Education Outreach - Attakkalari Mobile Academy

Attakkalari has been working extensively to bring dance education to schools across Bangalore with its Mobile Academy. The Mobile Academy aims to extend arts and dance education to a much wider community that stretches across Bangalore’s school system at various levels. For over two decades Attakkalari’s Education Outreach Programme has worked to expand dance education through all levels of society and community. Currently, the Mobile Academy is holding year-long dance classes that are included as part of the curriculum at 7 different schools and short intensive courses at prestigious institutes like IIT-Hyderabad and Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities among others. The dance classes have been geared toward contemporary dance but the Mobile Academy offers many other styles such as Kalaripayattu, Bharatanatyam and Choreography. Performing arts, such as dance, have been proven to improve both physical and mental development in children. Throughout the year, Attakkalari aims to extend the mobile academy initiative and continue to put more dance into classrooms all over.
