Attakkalari’s artistic director Jayachandran Palazhy and the repertory’s rehearsal director Hemabharathy Palani had an enriching stint at the Beijing Dance Festival from 18th to 30th July 2017 – one of the biggest celebration of dance in Beijing and other cities in China. They led a series of workshops and choreographed a piece for the participants. Hemabharathy performed her much acclaimed solo show Trikonanga for a packed audience.

Now, the senior dancers from the repertory and light designers from TransMedia Technologies have joined them in China (Guiyang) for the performance of Attakkalari’s latest production ‘Bhinna Vinyasa’ on 5th August, 2017 at 8 pm as part of the 2nd Guizhou Dance Festival. The entire team will be back in Bengaluru on 8th August 2017.

Yashti, the latest solo choreography by Attakkalari’s rehearsal director Hemabharathy Palani will be premiered at Gurunanak Bhavan in Bengaluru on 9th September 2017 at 7 pm. In Yashti, Hemabharthy creates a sensorial and multi-layered portrait of a woman through anecdotes by delving into the cultural memories of other women who have chosen an alternative path. Linking haunting images of love, jealousy, confrontation and redemption, Hema performs a kinaesthetic soliloquy that combines fresh choreographic ideas, a new poetics of tradition and an invented vocabulary. Yashti is raw and honest poetry where a single voice echoes multiple truth. For more details, please visit Attakkalari's website.
