Attakkalari has been invited by the National School of Drama to present its latest, full-length contemporary dance production MeiDhwani - Echoes of the Body in New Delhi. Derived from Tamil & Sanskrit (Mei meaning Body and Dhwani meaning Echo or Suggestion), the title subtly alludes to ‘Echoes of the Body’. MeiDhwani premiered in Germany in October, 2011 and has had successful performances in India at Bangalore, Shimoga, Chennai and Cochin.
Friday, January 13th at 8:30 PM at the Abhimanch Theatre, National School of Drama, New Delhi
Tickets are priced at Rs. 100 & 200 and are available online at www.bookmyshow.com and at the National School of Drama. |

Nadir in New Delhi

Diya Naidu, senior member of the Attakkalari Repertory Company will present her solo work Nadir at KHOJLIVE 12 on January 27th at Blue Frog, New Delhi. Diya is an emerging choreographer and was the joint winner of the Robert Bosch Young Choreographers Award in 2010. KHOJLIVE is an evening of live performance art that will include conceptual performances by individuals, movement pieces by experimental dancers, live sound presentations and audience participation with new media. |

Attakkalari in Australia
|

Jayachandran Palazhy, Attakkalari's Artistic Director has been invited by Critical Path and the Asian Art series, Melbourne Arts Centre to conduct workshops in Australia. Critical Path is a choreographic research and development centre for dance artists in New South Wales, Australia. Jayachandran will teach a one week intensive workshop from January 30th to February 3rd funded by the Australia Council for the Arts and Arts NSW. He will also teach at the Melbourne Arts Centre on February 4th and 5th.

Auditions for Attakkalari's Diploma in Movement Arts & Mixed Media for the year 2012-2013 have begun in Bangalore. The year-long intensive foundation course is designed to prepare young dancers with the requisite skills to begin their journey in contemporary dance. Jayachandran Palazhy, Attakkalari's Artistic Director and Diya Naidu, a senior member of the Attakkalari Repertory have been invited by the Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, the cultural wing of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany. They will be conducting a contemporary dance workshop from January 6th to 10th in Dhaka. |

David April, leading contemporary dance artiste from South Africa visited Attakkalari in January. David conducted an Afro-fusion Masterclass for members of the Attakkalari Repertory Company. This is in continuation with Attakkalari's efforts to strengthen international cultural exchanges and dialogue between countries.

Chhau at Attakkalari

Attakkalari will soon start classes in Chhau based contemporary dance. Scheduled to begin in February, the class will be led by Lalit Khatana, a senior member of the Attakkalari Repertory and a faculty member of Attakkalari’s Diploma programme.
