Spotlight

Attakkalari is set to preview its latest full length dance production MeiDhwani in Bangalore on September 7th before its upcoming tour across Germany in October.

Alluding to the syncretic traditions and evolutions of the Indian society and culture, the word MeiDhwani is a conjugation of Tamil & Sanskrit words Mei (Body) and Dhwani (Echo or Suggestion). Exploring the histories of the “Body” and the states of “Matter” that constitute the universe in Indian thought, MeiDhwani navigates through evocative qualities embedded in their sculptural shapes, memories and emotions. The research undertaken by Attakkalari for the Nagarika project on the martial art, Kalarippayattu, funded by Ford Foundation has inspired MeiDhwani's performance arena and its attributes.

In Europe, MeiDhwani will be performed in Kunstlerhaus Mousonturm, Frankfurt (October 7th & 8th), in Pumpenhaus, Munster (October 12th) and in Tanzhaus nrw, Dusseldorf (October 14th & 15th).

The preview in Bangalore will be on Wednesday, September 7th at Ravindra Kalakshetra Auditorium. For sponsorship opportunities and tickets, contact the Attakkalari Repertory Company.
