AJEESH K.B. |
| |
Ajeesh underwent strenuous
martial art training and acquired his black belt in karate at
age fourteen. Later he was an active member of the Cinematic
dance group – “Scorpions”, in Kerala for nine
years, and was simultaneously involved in multi-media graphic
design. After successfully completing his Diploma in Movement
Arts and Mixed Media, offered by Attakkalari, he has intensively
trained in Kalarippayattu, Bharata Natyam, Western Ballet and
Contemporary Dance. He is a facilitator in our Education Outreach
Programme. Through the Attakkalari Repertory Company he recently
participated in projects in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and
Seoul (South Korea). |

DENNY PAUL |
| |
Denny Paul had his
initial training in dance in the popular genre of Cinematic
dance. As a graduate of Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement
Arts and Mixed Media, Denny trained in Contemporary Dance, Ballet,
Bharatanatyam, Kalarippayattu, Yoga, Pilates and Contact Improvisation.
Denny along with 3 other dancers represented Attakkalari in
the U.K. at the Brouhaha Festival in Liverpool in 2008. The
piece performed at the festival was choreographed by Denny and
very well received. In the course of his time at Liverpool,
he interacted with international artists from varied movement
styles. Denny has been invited again to Liverpool to choreograph
a piece for a group of European contemporary dancers. He is
a member of Attakkalari’s repertory and teaches extensively
on the Education Outreach Program. Denny is an effective communicator
and has worked as a choreographer and teacher in varied contexts.
He also has a keen interest in music. |

DIVYA VIBHA SHARMA |
| |
A recent graduate of
Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media,
Divya is currently a member of the Repertory Company. Having
trained in Kathak, Divya has additionally worked with documentary
films and theatre in Mumbai. With a B.A. in Philosophy, she
has also acquired skills in graphic design, mixed media, illustration
and stop motion film making. At Attakkalari, she has received
training in Kalarippayyatu, Feldenkrais, Contemporary Dance,
Contact Improvisation, and Lighting Design. Through mentorship
at Attakkalari, she is working on new development and is a facilitator
with the Education Outreach Program. She recently participated
in a 6 month residency - “Asia Africa Dance Exchange”
in Seoul, South Korea where she collaborated with international
young choreographers, learnt the Korean language and traveled
within South Korea. |

DIYA NAIDU |
| |
Diya has studied ISTD
Jazz Ballet, Modern Performance, Choreography Techniques, Kathak
and Physical Theatre. Originally from Kolkatta, she has several
years of experience teaching movement in Delhi and Bangalore.
A graduate of Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and
Mixed Media, Diya has enhanced her movement vocabulary through
her training in Bharatanatyam, Kalarippayattu, Ballet, Contemporary
Technique, Contact Improvisation and Pilates.
Passionate about dance pedagogy, Diya leads independent contemporary
dance classes through Attakkalari’s community dance programme.
Committed to dance, Diya has traveled and performed in Europe
and across India, conducted several workshops and is currently
working on a fusion based choreography. As a dancer in Attakkalari’s
latest multi media production – CHRONOTOPIA, Diya also
collaborated with international multi-media artists. |

HEMABHARATHY
PALANI |
| |
As a dancer, Hemabharathy
has a unique movement style, naturally evolved by blending
the distilled vocabularies of classical Indian dance forms
such as Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi (in which she has trained
for 13 years and performed extensively) with the freedom of
Contemporary dance. She has also undergone training in Kalarippayattu
and Yoga as well as Contact Improvisation, Ballet and Pilates
giving her movement a strong, sensitive and precise quality.
Hema is a prominent figure among the emerging new choreographers
of contemporary India. She recently premiered her 20 minute
choreographic solo work - 'CHAAYA', (Shadows) at the Attakkalari
India Biennial Festival of Contemporary Dance and Digital
Arts. The work done in collaboration with a team of reputed
Indian and international artists, deals with the difficult
issue of Child Sexual Abuse. Hema did extensive research on
the subject for this moving and powerful work. Hema has participated
in several national and international projects and represented
India - in choreography projects, residencies and taken part
in all Attakkalari’s multi-media dance productions performing
at most of the major European festivals. Hema also teaches
in the Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media Programme.

JYOTSNA B. |
| |
A Contemporary dancer
and full time Repertory Member of Attakkalari Centre for Movement
Arts. She is experienced in various movement forms such as Jazz,
Kalarippayattu, Folk Dance, Theatre, Bharatanatyam, and Contemporary
Dance. She has also completed her Masters in Psychology, is
passionate about environmental rights, is a senior in Tabla
and has trained in dance pedagogy with Attakkalari. In addition
to performing and choreographing, she is an active education
outreach facilitator. She conducts a contemporary dance class
for children. She in an integral part of Attakkalari’s
international productions and was invited to the UK last year
for the Brouhaha International Festival in Liverpool. As a member
of the Repertory Company, she was recently featured in Attakkalari’s
multi-media production - Chronotopia. |

RAAM KUMAR R. |
| |
Raam has trained for
thirteen years in Kalarippayattu at the C.V.N. Institute, Trivandrum
under Guru C.V. Govindan Kutti Nayar and Shri G. Satyanarayan.
He joined Attakkalari as a faculty member. In addition to teaching
the diploma students Kalarippayattu, he is a member of the Repertory
Company and a facilitator with Attakkalari’s Education
Outreach Programme. Through Attakkalari he recently had the
opportunity to share Kalarippayattu techniques with dancers
in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. |

REMYA K.N. |
| |
Remya trained in Bharatnatyam
at the premiere dance institute Nrityagram, Bangalore for three
years. After this she successfully completed the Diploma in
Movement Arts and Mixed Media offered by Attakkalari and is
currently with the Attakkalari Repertory Company and a facilitator
with the Education Outreach Programme. She premiered her choreographic
work "Akruti" through the “Young Choreographers
Platform” at the Attakkalari India Biennial 2009. She
traveled to the U.K. for an exchange programme at the Brouhaha
International Festival. |

SANTOSH V.S. |
| |
Santosh was a member
of a popular Cinematic dance group “Scorpions” in
Kerala, before he joined Attakkalari. He has learnt Yoga from
the Thrissur Yoga Association and also independently choreographed
dances for Malayalam musical albums. After completing Attakkalari’s
Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media, he is a member of
the Attakkalari Repertory Company and a facilitator with the
Education Outreach Programme. He traveled to the U.K. with Attakkalari’s
Repertory and performed at the Brouhaha Festival. |

SUMESH V.M. |
| |
Sumesh began dancing
at age ten. He worked with a popular Cinematic dance group -
"Scorpions" in Kerala and has choreographed for many
Malayalam music albums. He received training in Kalarippayattu,
Bharatanatyam, Ballet, Contact Improvisation, Anatomy, Art History
and Light Design through Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement
Arts and Mixed Media and is currently a part of the Attakkalari
Repertory Company. |

PARTH BHARDWAJ |
| |
A graduate with distinction
of Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media
(2009), Parth received training in Ballet, Pilates, Jazz, Contact
Improvisation, Modern Dance, Light Design, Kalarippayattu, Bharatnatyam
and Contemporary Dance. Through this Diploma he supplemented
his earlier training in cinematic dance styles in Delhi. He
is currently a Junior dancer in Attakkalari’s Repertory
Company and performs at shows around India. He has a keen interest
in yoga and is undergoing training to conduct education outreach
in schools and colleges. |

RONITA MOOKERJI |
| |
Before enrolling in
Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media,
Ronita underwent classical training in Bharatnatyam for more
than 14 years in Kolkata. She had also trained in Odissi in
Kolkata. Through the Diploma at Attakkalari, she took classes
in Ballet, Pilates, Jazz, Contact Improvisation, Modern Dance,
Light Design, Kalarippayattu, Bharatnatyam and Contemporary
Dance. She is now a Junior dancer in Attakkalari’s Repertory
Company. She has auxiliary interests in Eastern Karnatic Music,
Rabindra Sangeet and painting. |

KEYA ANN D’SOUZA |
| |
Having trained primarily
in Jazz and Contemporary styles, Keya has worked with Danceworx
in Delhi and Mumbai in addition to working with the Delhi Music
Theatre. She has choreographed and taught extensively in Delhi
and Mumbai. The only student to have graduated with Honours
in Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media
batch of 2009, Keya also enrolled in a 2 week summer course
at the Laban School in London. She is currently a Junior member
of Attakkalari’s Repertory Company and is undergoing further
training to conduct education outreach in schools and colleges
through Attakkalari. |

SAHIBA SINGH |
| |
Sahiba has trained
in The Danceworx Performing Arts Academy in Jazz and Ballet
in Delhi. She was an active member of the dance community at
Lady Sri Ram College (Delhi) and was employed as a professional
dancer at Danceworx Delhi. Having seen Attakkalari’s multi
media production – Purushartha in Delhi, she decided to
move to Bangalore to pursue a Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed
Media at Attakkaalri. Through the Diploma, she trained in Ballet,
Pilates, Jazz, Contact Improvisation, Modern Dance, Light Design,
Kalarippayattu, Bharatnatyam and Contemporary Dance. She is
now a junior dancer in Attakkalari’s Repertory Company. |

AMARESHA K |
| |
Amaresh has a strong
interest in theatre, light design, contemporary dance and movement
arts. He completed his Diploma in Theatre at the highly reputed
Ninasam Institute in Heggodu, Karnataka, and subsequently toured
with the theatre troupe across Karnataka. He then enrolled in
Attakkalari’s Diploma in Movement Arts and Mixed Media
where he supplemented his theatre training with classes in Ballet,
Pilates, Jazz, Contact Improvisation, Modern Dance, Light Design,
Kalarippayattu, Bharatnatyam and Contemporary Dance. He is a
junior dancer in Attakkalari’s Repertory Company and is
continually participating in its Education Outreach Projects. |

LALIT KHATANA |
| |
Lalit has a movement
background in the Eastern Indian form of Chau in addition to
Contemporary Dance, Gymnastics and Acrobatics in Delhi. He has
performed extensively in India both for corporate launches and
cultural events and recently traveled to Switzerland for the
India – India Dance Festival. He is currently a Junior
Dancer in Training with the Repertory Company at Attakkalari
Centre for Movement Arts. |
